BACKGROUND
Geranium essential oil is steam distilled from the flowers, leaves, and stems of the Pelargonium graveolens plant, a multi branched shrub that grows up to 5 feet tall. Native to subtropical southern Africa, geranium was used traditionally by the Egyptians to promote beautiful, radiant skin. Today Geranium essential oil is obtained from Africa and Madagascar and is used in many perfumes and cosmetics for its fresh, floral aroma and skin care benefits. In addition to use in topical products and perfumes, Geranium essential oil can be diffused or inhaled for its uplifting and soothing aroma.

DAILY HABITS WITH GERANIUM
Make Geranium and Ylang ylang a part of your bedtime routine! Diffuse, apply, massage onto shoulders, mix with water in a 2oz glass spray bottle and spritz onto sheets. 

Household uses for Geranium:


Make a lovely Citrus Rind Diffuser (recipe via Hello Glow):


Grapefruit & Geranium:
1 grapefruit
10 drops Grapefruit
5 drops Geranium 
3 drops Sage
1&1/2 cups coarse sea salt
Fresh sage leaves for garnish (optional) 
Lemon Rosemary Geranium:
1 lemon
1 cup coarse sea salt
15 drops Rosemary
10 drops Grapefruit
5-7 drops Geranium
Fresh rosemary for garnish (optional)
Geranium Lime:
1 lime
1 cup coarse sea salt
10 drops Geranium
10 drops Lime
Fresh rosemary for garnish (optional)
Hollow out the fruit. In a small bowl mix sea salt and essential oils well. Fill fruit rinds with the salt and oil mixture. Replace every 3-4 days.

Use Geranium to ward off outdoor pests!
Diffuse Geranium and Citronella in a battery operated diffuser
Make a simple spray with 30 drops each Geranium, Citronella, and Lavender in a 4oz glass spray bottle with water or carrier oil to apply as needed.
Make an Herbal Deodorizing Spray for pet beds, upholstered surfaces, car upholstery, etc!


To a 4oz glass spray bottle add
¼ cup white vinegar
20 drops Geranium essential oil
10 drops Lavender essential oil 
10 drops Lemon essential oil
5 drops Peppermint essential oil
Pinch sea salt or splash of witch hazel
Filtered water
Spray lightly onto surfaces to remove unwanted odors. 



Beauty & Skincare with Geranium


Add Geranium to your skincare routine to brighten your skin. Try this Gentle Bentonite Clay Cleanser & Mask:


4 Tbsp Bentonite clay 
1 Tbsp baking soda
2 tsp calendula powder 
2 tsp chamomile powder 
½ tsp Vitamin C powder 
Mix powders well and store in a glass jar.
To use, place a nickel size amount of powder in your palm. Add 2 drops ofGeranium and a little water to form a paste. Apply to face and neck and let sit for 2-5 minutes to cleanse or up to 10 as a mask. Rise with warm water. 

Make a T-zone roller to use on oily areas of skin or to spot treat problem areas or acne!


10mL roller bottle
20 drops Geranium
10 drops Lemon
10 drops Manuka or Tea tree
Fill with jojoba oil

Make this Brightening Cranberry Clay Mask for an at-home facial:


¼ cup fresh, organic cranberries
¼ tsp Rhassoul clay 
1 tsp organic, greek yogurt
1 tsp honey
5 drops each Elemi, Geranium 
¼ cup of water
Blend cranberries into a paste, then add remaining ingredients. Add water last and add until desired consistency.  Apply to the face and let sit for 10-15 minutes before removing with warm water or a warm cloth.

Make a DIY Brightening Facial Serum


2oz glass dropper bottle
20 drops Geranium
15 drops Frankincense
Optional: 10 drops Blue Tansy
Optional: ½ tsp Vitamin C powder
Carrier of choice
Apply to face morning and evening. 



Roller Blends with Geranium
Make this Peonies Roller Blend (also makes a great diffuser blend!) to wear as perfume:


5 drops Geranium 
3 drops Grapefruit 
2 drops Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood 
2 drops Lime
In a 10mL roller bottle and fill with carrier or choice


DIFFUSE
