Spotlight on Patchouli
Patchouli is one of the most popular oils for good reason! This earthy, relaxing oil is wonderful for helping us clarify thoughts, allowing us to discard jealousies and insecurities (no surprise – it's a main ingredient in the fan-favorite Peace and Calming blend!). Patchouli is also wonderful for your skin to help combat wrinkles and acne and relieve chapped or itchy skin. You can even add a couple of drops to your shampoo or conditioner for healthier-looking hair. Is there anything this oil can't do?!

JUST A DROP OF PATCHOULI

Has a grounding, deeply earthy aroma
Helps soothe and improve skin appearance when applied topically
Helps clean skin and reduce blemishes
Invites a sense of calm, grounded thinking to the mind and emotions
Is a key ingredient in the popular Peace & Calming blend
Blends well with many other oils to make perfumes and roll-ons

Love it or hate it, Patchouli is so much more than its reputation precedes. This earthy oil adds depth and richness to diffuser blends and recipes, is a wonderful tool for any skin need, and helps to ground the mind and emotions. Pair it with citrus oils, a bit of floral or sweetness from Geranium or Ylang ylang, and with conifer oils like Northern Lights Black Spruce for a wonderful blend!

BACKGROUND
Native to Indonesia, patchouli is a bushy herb in the mint family that typically grows to a height of 2–3 feet and produces small white or pink flowers. Its leaves were used traditionally as a flavoring or herbal tea. Patchouli essential oil contains the naturally occurring constituent patchoulol, which contributes to its earthy aroma. A common base note in perfumes, Patchouli creates a calming and grounding environment when diffused or inhaled and can also be applied topically to moisturize the skin.

KEY CONSTITUENTS
Patchoulol, Bulnesene, Alpha-guaiene
