Think About the “What If?”
Think about a time when something changed with a horse and you weren't quite sure what to do next. Bring that situation, your questions, and the emergencies you hope never happen.

A Little Preview
Something Changed. What Happens Next?
We’ll practice a simple approach to help you recognize what changed, gather useful information, know when to call, and communicate clearly with your veterinarian.
What changed from this horse’s normal?
What observations and vital signs help fill in the picture?
What changes tell you it’s time to contact your veterinarian?
What information will help your veterinarian understand what’s happening?
Before We Meet, Find These Three Things
Do you know where your thermometer is? Where are your emergency supplies? Is your veterinarian’s phone number easy for someone else in the barn to find? Take five minutes and look. Don’t reorganize anything yet—just notice what you already have and what might prove difficult to find when you need it quickly.
You’ll receive an Equine Emergency Bucket Guide to help you organize the supplies and important information you want ready before an emergency happens. Bring it home, build your bucket, and keep it where the people caring for your horse know how to find it.
“Prepared doesn’t mean knowing everything. It means knowing what to notice and what to do next.”
Emergencies rarely happen when everything feels organized and there’s plenty of time to think. A little preparation now helps you notice important changes, gather useful information, and communicate clearly with your veterinarian when something happens. Thank you for joining us, supporting Iron Giants and the horses in their care, and spending a morning becoming a more prepared horse caregiver. I’m looking forward to working through these situations with you.
Warmly,
Dr. Lynne Wimmer
