DORADO AZUL™

A refreshing aromatic character Young Living compares with Peppermint — but with greater depth.

Young Living Dorado Azul Essential Oil
A Young Living Discovery

What Makes Dorado Azul Unique

Dorado Azul™ comes from Hyptis suaveolens, an aromatic member of the mint family. Young Living describes the plant as once regarded as little more than a weed in Ecuador — until Founder D. Gary Young recognized its potential and brought it to the Finca Botanica Farm and Distillery for analysis in 2006.

The distilled oil carries a fresh, leafy, earthy, herbaceous aroma and, according to Young Living educational material, a beautiful red color. Young Living describes Dorado Azul as exclusive to Young Living and compares its refreshing aromatic character with Peppermint — with greater depth.

Young Living highlights Dorado Azul for topical and aromatic use, massage, beauty routines, bathing, and post-activity routines.

Meet the Plant

From “Weed” to Discovery

Dorado Azul comes from Hyptis suaveolens, an aromatic member of the mint family. Young Living describes the plant as native to Ecuador and once regarded locally as a relatively unimportant weed.

That perception changed when Young Living Founder D. Gary Young encountered the plant and explored its aromatic potential. Young Living's current international educational material reports that Gary brought the botanical to the Finca Botanica Farm and Distillery for analysis in 2006.

Distillation revealed something unexpected: a distinctly aromatic essential oil with a beautiful red appearance and fresh herbaceous personality.

Sometimes an overlooked plant becomes interesting when we look more closely.

Sourcing & Origin

From Ecuador's Finca Botanica

Young Living identifies Dorado Azul as one of the botanicals sourced from the Finca Botanica Farm and Distillery in Chongon (Guayaquil), Ecuador. Established in 2006, the farm spans approximately 2,000 acres and benefits from Ecuador's tropical climate and year-round growing season.

Young Living describes Finca Botanica as a place where Gary Young continued exploring and distilling botanicals from one of the world's most biodiverse regions. Dorado Azul was brought to the farm for analysis after Gary recognized potential in a plant others regarded as a weed.

The farm also uses laboratory analysis, including gas chromatography, to examine oils produced there and monitor constituent changes.

What About Pets?

Human Dorado Azul directions do not automatically translate to animals. Dorado Azul appears in some Young Living animal formulations, but the human single-oil label does not provide generic animal-use directions.

Species, size, age, health status, route of exposure, concentration, formulation, and individual sensitivity all matter. For animal-specific use, seek guidance from a veterinarian knowledgeable about essential oils.
