BACKGROUND
Native to South America, lemon verbena was brought to Europe by the Spanish and Portuguese in the 17th century. A member of the Verbenaceae family, it is a large, aromatic perennial shrub that typically grows to a height of 7−10 feet. Often mistaken for lemon balm, lemon verbena is actually in a completley different plant family and has properties more similar to lemongrass than lemon balm.

KEY CONSTITUENTS
*Constituents are naturally occurring compounds in plants (and therefore essential oils) that give them specific health-supporting properties

LEMON VERBENA & EMOTIONS
Lemon Verbena is a calming, uplifting oil, making it great for promoting relaxation and reduced stress. It is also a great choice for supporting focus and concentration (as are most citrus oils). The scent of the lemon verbena itself is uplifting and stimulating the mind and helping you to clear out feelings of worry or distraction.

Citrus oils in general remind us of summer, sunshine, and all the warm feelings that the sun can bring. This is part of why they are great for boostin our moods - they can literally help our bodies create more feel-good neurotransmitters. Sounds like a pretty great reason to use that roller or fire up that diffuser!

They also have limonene, a constituent that helps our bodies find, repear and prevent damage from free radicals. This creates less physical stress on the body, and therefore less emotional and mental stress. Lemon Verbena is no exception, so it's a great addition to a rolelr blend that smells great and also gives you some emotional support.

DAILY HABITS WITH LEMON VERBENA
Use Lemon Verbena for its health and skincare benefits…

Add Lemon Verbena to a roller bottle with R.C. or Raven to help boost the expectorant qualities, support airways and break up mucus.
Add a drop to your conditioner to promote shine in your hair.
Add a drop to your moisturizer to support smooth, even skin or use it as a spot treatment to help with blemishes.
Use Lemon Verbena to spot treat oily skin areas such as the t-zone.
Add Lemon Verbena to a spray bottle to use when someone falls. Spray the area and cover with a bandage:

2oz spray bottle
10 drops each Lemon Verbena, Helichrysum
20 drops Lavender, Frankincense
Carrier oil of choice

Use Lemon Verbena for Household Cleaning…

Use to remove stickers on glass (without the nasty chemicals!).
Add 1-2 drops to your dishwasher for sparkling dishes.
Add to wool dryer balls for a fresh scent (and ditch the dryer sheets!)
Use to remove childhood art from the walls or furniture! Lemon pairs well with Thieves Household Cleaner for this. Make sure to do a spot check if you are worried about the area.
Make a DIY Laundry Scent Booster and ditch toxic laundry products:

To a glass jar with a lid add:
1 cup Epsom Salt
½ cup Fine Sea Salt
½ cup Baking Soda
30 drops Lemon Verbena Essential Oil (or a mix of desired oils)
To use, add 2-3 Tbsp directly to the laundry.

Add Lemon Verbena to your homemade cleaning products for extra power (just don't apply directly to granite or marble).
Add 15 drops of Lemon Verbena to diluted Thieves Household Cleaner for a daily spray.
Add 10 drops each Pine, Lemon Verbena to Thieves Household Cleaner and dilute for a mop solution.
Mix 10 drops Lemon Verbena oil + ¼ cup Baking Soda  + 1 tsp Thieves Household Cleaner for a kitchen and bath scrub (add more baking soda to consistency as desired)
Clean a slow moving drain with baking soda, white vinegar and Lemon Verbena. Pour ¼-½ cup baking soda onto the drain, drop 2-3 drops Lemon onto it, pour ¼-½ cup vinegar onto the mixture and cover with a cloth for 10 minutes. Then pour hot water into the drain.
